Ten years of pride: the Climats of Burgundy show on the occasion of the UNESCO anniversary

In 2015, the Climats of the Burgundy vineyard, these meticulously demarcated plots cultivated for centuries, received international recognition: their inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Ten years later, in 2025, the entire region will come alive to celebrate this recognition with shows, artistic performances, and wine discoveries, particularly in the major venues of Beaune and Puligny-Montrachet.

An anniversary year punctuated by the "Festival du Mois des Climats"

Between May 2 and July 3, 2025, Burgundy will vibrate to the rhythm of the "Festival du Mois des Climats," an exceptional event specially organized to mark the tenth anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Nearly 30 events are scheduled: conferences, immersive walks, shows, exhibitions, and tastings will take place in towns and vineyards. Recently published, the program highlights the collective mobilization of the region. In May, around the Clos de Vougeot, nearly 1,000 students are invited to participate in educational workshops on viticulture, a bridge between tradition and heritage.

Puligny-Montrachet: the beating heart of the "Guardians of the Climats" show

On July 4, 2025, Puligny-Montrachet will be transformed into an open-air stage for the highlight entitled "Guardians of the Climats," a true sensory immersion into the Burgundy terroir. The show begins with "La Quête," an artistic journey through the vineyards of Puligny and Chassagne, punctuated by performances by musicians, storytellers, and dancers. These tableaux vivants retrace the geological and human history of the Climats, leading up to its UNESCO World Heritage listing.

The evening's highlight continues with a gourmet village, where food trucks, refreshment stands, and concerts enliven the venue until nightfall, followed by a spectacular fireworks display. Festival-goers can also purchase a tasting kit, including a collector's glass and a selection of iconic wines.

Beaune also has its anniversary weekend

On the weekend of July 5th and 6th, Beaune continues the celebrations with its special program centered around the Cité des Climats et Vins de Bourgogne, a cultural space inaugurated in 2023. It features contemporary exhibitions (such as Mister Pee's "Cuvée Urbaine"), interactive workshops for children, family activities, and original evening activities such as the "Chemins épicuriens" (Epicurean Paths).

These festive moments are accompanied by guided tours, guided tastings, and an immersive tour: an invitation to experience the Climats in a different way.

Culture serving heritage: theater, art, and dialogue

The anniversary program also showcases artistic creation. "Des Hommes et des Climats," a play performed by the Compagnie Vagabonde, retraces 2,000 years of winemaking history. Presented in Beaune, the Côte de Nuits region, and Dijon, the play combines readings, songs, humor, and interaction to bring the audience closer to the registered cultural heritage.

Beyond the Show: A Scientific and Community Ambition

The festivities don't stop in the summer. From December 3rd to 5th, an international scientific symposium will be held in Beaune and Dijon. It will take stock of ten years of promoting the Climats, focusing on their heritage, scientific, and community advances, while also engaging with other UNESCO sites around the world.

Conclusion: Ten Years of History, Ten Years of Future

In 2025, Burgundy's vineyards are celebrating much more than just an anniversary: they are affirming a collective ambition for transmission, innovation, and openness. The immersive show in Puligny, the cultural program in Beaune, and the scientific symposium demonstrate that UNESCO listing is not a point of arrival, but a springboard to the future. An entire region has thus become the guardian of a living heritage, between tradition and creation, history and the future. This monumental show is an invitation: to join the guardians of the Climats and enjoy a shared experience in the heart of an exceptional terroir on a global scale.
